Well, here's an exciting twist to the Bang Bang Pie Shop story: Not only have proprietors Dave and Megan Miller nixed the Pilsen expansion but they've exited their acclaimed Logan Square pie and coffee spot altogether, restaurantguru.com reports. They sold their shares to a business partner last week in order to work on a new spot they're planning near the Western Brown Line stop in Lincoln Square, Baker Miller Pie Company.
Baker Miller Pie Company will be "a more focused pie shop" with sweet and savory pies in both family-style and handheld sizes, along with coffee and other baked goods, Megan Miller says. They will mill their own flour, make their own butter, and hope to offer classes inside the space she says is "relatively small."
The new spot is not set in stone, as the Millers are still negotiating the lease. They're hoping to open in July.
