The reconcepting of Market is complete and curious Chicagoans can see the new space, Packing House, when it soft opens tonight. Most remnants of the former sports bar are now gone, replaced by a modern restaurant concept that ownership hopes is more refined for the crowd on Randolph Row.
The multi-level structure remains: The first floor is now a 125-seat restaurant; the second floor is a similar sized terrace and bar under the retractable roof. White marble walls, gray booths, glass-enclosed fireplaces, and many flat screens fill much of the interior.
New chef Amanda Barnes (City Tavern, Purple Pig) is cooking modern American food with a Mediterranean angle. Take a look around the space below.
