Beverage Director Justin Anderson Leaving La Sirena

New, 1 comment

After nearly 18 months crafting the beverage program and running the front of the house at La Sirena Clandestina, beverage director and general manager Justin Anderson is exiting the Fulton Market South American destination at the end of the month. "I've gotten to the point with this project where I want to learn more," he says. "There are other opportunities out there."

Although he says he "has nothing lined up," Anderson, a finalist for Eater's 2013 bartender of the year, has aspirations for his own place, saying he wants to learn back-of-the-house skills to complement his current set. "It's kind of the idea," he says when asked about his own spot.

The move is bittersweet for Anderson, who worked with chef John Manion at Branch 27 before signing on at La Sirena. "When you work somewhere you love it's hard to leave," he says. "It's time to do something different." Look out for something new from him soon.
