Fundraiser Set to Help Fat Rice's Jan Henrichsen's Battle Against Cancer

As Fat Rice's beverage director Jan Henrichsen battles cancer, her friends in the Chicago restaurant community are banding together to support her. A fundraiser for Henrichsen, dubbed "Jan's Big 'C' Soiree," is coming to Rootstock on Sunday, March 16. Found executive chef Nicole Pederson is helming the event, which will also include Mike Simmons (Rootstock), Zeeshan Shah (Old Town Social) and Lisa Futterman (Pastoral).

Tickets for the event, which covers all of the food and drinks for the evening, are $48 and available for purchase here. Food is being donated by Slagel Family Farm, Fortune Gourmet, Pastoral and Old Town Social.

Henrichsen, who can still be found behind the bar at Fat Rice when she is able to, is also working on new cocktail recipes for the restaurant. Before she joined Fat Rice, Henrichsen was at Found with Pederson, who discusses their relationship.

"Jan and I met working at Pastoral and were pretty much instant friends and we grew even closer during our time together at Found," Pederson says. "She is my drinking buddy, my confidant, and is always quick with words of wisdom whether it's about boys, knitting, work or a cocktail recipe. Also, her daughter Rudy is pretty much the coolest kid on the planet."

The party will run from 6:30 until 11:00 p.m. and will include a raffle and silent auction featuring artwork from local artists Tony Fitzpatrick, Sontra Starla, Shane Swank, Steve Cox and more.
