Fun fact: When the "modern taco" spot Takito Kitchen first opened in the Sabor Saveur space on Division it was originally more of a cocktail lounge, but a lack of bar seating forced ownership to make it the restaurant it is today. To that end, ownership is closing in on a deal to open a second location somewhere in the West Loop that will focus on beverage director Adam Weber's Latin-inspired "culinary cocktails" in what partner Mario Ponce calls a "Bar Takito."
"It's getting very close to being a done deal...it's looking good for this year." says chef David Dworshak, who's already working on the menu and look. "(The West Loop) is some bigger shoes to jump into—it's intimidating and exciting at the same time."
Ownership won't reveal the address yet because they're still in negotiations. Ponce expects to close the deal within a couple of weeks; stay tuned.
