Wave at the W-Lakeshore Going Italian

Italian may be the trendiest cuisine in town and even the W-Lakeshore Hotel is getting into the act. The Wave dining room, the hotel's in-house restaurant, is currently closed and under construction. When it reopens later in the spring it will be a "completely new concept" with brand-new decor and name, according to a staffer, who says chef Greg Elliot is still there.

Representatives haven't given any info but a Craigslist ad calls it "a true Italian social gathering on all levels" with "no defined dining or drinking areas." It mentions small plates, full entrees, cocktails and craft beer and describes the decor as "distinctly modern."

Expect the new place to open around mid-May; the hotel has set up a temporary bar and lounge in a meeting room until then.
