I Know the Chef App Gives Users VIP Perks

A new app is available in Chicago to help the restaurant novice get some extra perks. I Know the Chef, which started in New York City, is an app for iPhone users (coming to Android later this year) that helps members secure prime tables, get treated like a VIP (along the lines of an amuse bouche, a glass of champagne, or a table side visit from the chef) — but for a fee.

Joining is free, so is the app download. But if you want to use the service there's a tiered payment system in place (from $59.99 all the way up to $399.99). The top-tiered elite package offers unrestricted, same day requests, access to the company's VIP reservation manager, and notification to the restaurant that you're an elite member (ostensibly to have them prepared to treat you even better than everyone else).

At the moment there are nine participating restaurants in Chicago (including Mercadito, Sunda, Roka Akor — hip, happening places for hip, happening people) with discussions in motion to add more. One can assume to see more restaurants from Mercadito Hospitality, Rockit Ranch Productions and Element Collective since those groups' restaurants already make up the bulk of participants.
