Another new business is officially open in the ballooning Hyde Park scene today, Plein Air Cafe. A brainchild of former Little Branch Cafe partner and fashion person Soo Choi and designer extraordinaire Kevin Heisner (Heisler Hospitality), Plein Air is a breakfast, lunch and coffee spot serving coffee from craft roasters, savory pies, pastries, sandwiches, grain bowls, and an array of breakfast items.
Situated on the University of Chicago campus and next door to Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House, the quaint white-washed 40-seat space is meant to be reminiscent of a "French workshop." A rotating selection of local artwork and a vinyl hi-fi sound system add to the motif. An outdoor patio will open soon.
Plein Air is open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on weekends. Read the menu below.
