SAWYER, MI—The final TMIP preview menu at Soe Café will be held this coming weekend. Brandon Baltzley says that this past weekend's vegan menu sold out to the point where they were turning people away at the door. With that in mind, reservations are necessary in order for you to get a taste (at a discounted rate) of what Baltzley and his team will be up to when TMIP Restaurant at Exterior Farm opens sometime in May. Click here for the full menu (if you are interested in the exotic, this is the menu for you) and how you can snag a spot. [EaterWire]
EVERYWHERE—Voting is open for Food & Wine's fourth annual The People's Best New Chef. Chicago chefs in the Great Lakes category are Johnny Anderes (Telegraph), Dave Beran (Next), Abraham Conlon (Fat Rice), Thai Dang (Embeya), Curtis Duffy (Grace), Matthew Kirkley (L2O) and Nicole Pederson (Found). Vote now for your favorite. [EaterWire]
RIVER NORTH—Visit GT Fish & Oyster tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. for an oyster class. Fortune Fish will supply the oysters and Tenzing Wine & Spirits will supply the wine. Learn everything you wanted to know about oysters but were afraid to ask. Guests who stay for dinner after the class will receive a discount on their bill (perhaps including the restaurant's new smoked fish platter). Reserve your place by calling (312)929-3501; the cost per person is $40. [EaterWire]
PILSEN—Tickets are now on sale for the inaugural charity bake sale, A Charitable Confection, taking place Friday, April 25 from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the Chicago Urban Arts Society (600 W. Cermak). The event is hosted by Jocelyn Delk Adams (of the dessert and baking blog, Grandbaby Cakes) and features Gale Gand (Spritz Burger), Mindy Segal (Mindy's Hot Chocolate) and more. Early bird tickets are $15 for general admission and $75 for VIP — purchase yours here. [EaterWire]
