Jerk. Modern Jamaican Grill Coming to River West

Jerk. Modern Jamaican Grill, the food truck you see at festivals and street fairs (during the type of weather Chicagoans can only dream of right now) will be bringing their take on "pushcart" cuisine to River West this summer. The food truck owners will feature the menu items fans know and love, but will augment that with new dishes as well.

Founder Dion Solano is aiming for a "cozy and familiar" feel for the restaurant using "a lot of natural elements" that he says won't be "gimmicky." In addition to the Jerk chicken, beef patties and Jamaican rice and peas they serve on the truck, expect their take on brisket, pulled pork and chicken wings, which will be smoked in-house.

"All of our menu items are inspired by my childhood living in Jamaica," Solano says. He excitedly adds that he "would love to modernize the 'bun & cheese' at some point."

Though expansion beyond the first storefront isn't out of the question, Solano adds that they "don't want to jump too far ahead of ourselves." He adds that they are hoping for "the same success that the truck has seen."
