Tony Hu finally has his partners in reconcepting Lao 18, and they're major players. Hu brought on David Morton and Michael Kornick of DMK Restaurants, who will turn his shuttered Hubbard Street Chinese spot into two undecided new concepts, Crain's reports. Hu, reached by phone, declined comment.
After he closed Lao 18, his first downtown restaurant, after just six months, Hu said he would bring in new partners to give the bi-level space more of a bar and nightlife aspect for the River North clientele. Morton and Kornick will reportedly utilize the 4 a.m. liquor license downstairs and include other entertainment. They hope to open the new spot in June, stay tuned for more details.
