Those who attended the second annual Poutine Fest yesterday got a taste of poutine that's actually from Canada. The Big Cheese Poutinerie, a Canadian mini-chain opening its first U.S. location soon in Wrigleyville, competed—and came in second.
The Gage won the judges' choice for the second year in a row, and Le Bouchon won the popular vote. Check out Time Out Chicago's recap for photos of the poutine and crowds at Haymarket Pub & Brewery yesterday.
The Big Cheese Poutinerie, who has two fast-casual locations in Calgary, hopes to open within a month inside the former El Jardin space on Clark Street. They serve a wide variety of poutines, sectioned by different meats (or vegetarian). It will be open for lunch, dinner, and late-night amidst the stretch of Cubs bars near Wrigley.
