The Search For the Golden Doughnut; Lulu's Closes; More

RIVER NORTH—Get ready to check your doughnut box like Charlie Bucket searched his candy bar wrappers. Starting tomorrow, Firecakes employees will hide three golden doughnuts in the boxes, good for free doughnuts for a year. Every box will have a ticket for one free doughnut. EVANSTON—Lulu's, the 21-year staple in Evanston, is officially closed to make way for Boltwood, Publican chef Brian Huston's restaurant. Lulu's ownership is considering reopening at a new location at a later date. [EaterWire]

UPTOWN—Cleetus Friedman is launching a revamped menu at Bar on Buena tomorrow. The Mexican-leaning bar menu includes eight burgers, mole wraps, and starters using locally-sourced foodstuffs. The whiskey, beer, and wine options have also been expanded. [EaterWire]

WEST TOWN—Shawn McClain is coming back to town on March 9 to participate in the second beast dinner at TWO. McClain, Mark Steuer (Carriage House), Jason Paskewitz (Gemini Bistro) and Tom Van de Lente (TWO) will each cook a course from a different cut of a dry-aged front quarter of beef.
