Expansion Project Will Make The Long Room Wider

Management converting space into a new kitchen.

The Long Room will be getting, wait for it...wider.

For the past few months, construction workers have kept busy on an expansion project for the craft beer-centered tavern at Ashland and Irving Park. Part of the bar's west wall has a huge hole and is boarded up with plywood. Management is building a kitchen in the space neighboring the bar area.

There's no word when the expansion will be finished, as management didn't immediately return a call. But over the weekend, the Long Room posted a glimpse of the yet-to-be-completed service area. We'll update if anything new comes along, but in the meantime, take a look:

UPDATE: The Long Room is shooting for a January opening for its kitchen, owner Jason Burrell tells Eater Chicago. He's still working a few details out.
