Velvet Taco's arrival in Chicago took another step, as the Texas-based chain has begun hiring for its State Street location.

However, the wait for Velvet's unique tacos like the crisp tikka chicken and Texas burger will last a few more months. A spokesman said they're looking at a late winter opening at 1110 N. State St, just a stone's throw away from the Viagra Triangle. When originally announced, officials said they'd be open by October.

Chicago would mark Velvet Taco's third location (Dallas and Fort Worth) and first outside of Texas. Check out the menu for the Chicago restaurant. It's a little smaller, lacking tacos like the cornmeal fried oyster, picnic chicken and roti chicken BLT, but they've added a Buffalo chicken option.
