One of the worst-kept secrets is out: Castle Chicago's last day of business will be Saturday Jan. 3.

Earlier this month, news broke the nightclub would close, but no shutter date was given. The nightclub made the closing official Tuesday morning via Facebook.

The River North icon has lasted 25 years under different names, including Excalibur and Limelight. Ala Carte Entertainment owns Castle and didn't return a call for comment. Ala Carte hired Four Corners Tavern Group last year, but it's unclear what their role is in any future reconcept. A call to Four Corners' director Ryan Indovina wasn't immediately returned.

Check back for any updates on the future of the space.
