FULTON MARKET—The James Beard Foundation says that Next's duck and foie gras ragout with duck egg and plum jus was one of their favorite dishes of 2014. The dish, which was served at Taste America: Chicago on October 17, "still haunts" the writer's taste buds. [James Beard Foundation]

LINCOLN PARKFormer Gemini Bistro and Rustic House chef Jason Paskewitz has a name for his forthcoming French restaurant with a planned spring 2015 opening. The Blanchard, at 1944 N. Clark St., will have seating for about 100, there will be seven seats at a chef's counter looking into an open kitchen and feature an entire section of the menu dedicated to foie gras. [Chicago]

RIVER NORTHEnolo Wine Bar is hosting 12 sommeliers' choices for a featured signature wine every month from now until December 14, 2015. January's featured sommelier is Spiaggia's Rachel Lowe and February's is Alpana Singh from Boarding House.
