Time is running out to storm the Castle. The sweaty quarter-century-old nightclub and eatery in the prominent four-level castle building on Dearborn is set to shutter around the beginning of the year, according to a staffer, who said "we're closing in three weeks."
The former Excalibur nightclub (opened in 1989) was rechristened Castle in February 2013. Owner Ala Carte Entertainment brought on Four Corners Tavern Group a year later for "repositioning and redevelopment," and the closing and likely reconcept appears to be part of their plan—Four Corners (Gaslight, Schoolyard, Highline, Ranalli's) director Ryan Indovina tells Eater that "we should have an announcement (of what we're doing with the space) soon, hopefully by the end of the year or early 2015. It will be newsworthy."
Castle's exact last day in business is currently unknown, as Ala Carte has yet to comment. Stay tuned for that and for news of what's coming there next.
