The "Mayor of Chinatown" is still chugging along. Tony Hu is finally ready to open his long gestating Michigan Avenue restaurant, as he announced an opening date for Lao Sze Chuan Downtown—December 18. The streetside restaurant in The Shops at North Bridge has been in the works for more than two years.
The FBI raids and brief closure of Hu's Chinatown's restaurants in October, while still a mystery with no arrests, haven't deterred the onward march of the Tony Gourmet Group. The march takes to the preeminent shopping district in the Midwest—the Magnificent Mile—in eight days.
