When last heard from Alpana Singh, the master sommelier was searching for a chef while prepping to open her second restaurant, Seven Lions, for a late-2014 opening. Singh has now found that chef—former Blue 13 and Fifty/50 Group main kitchen man Chris Curren, Chicago Mag reports.
Curren, who first met Singh while taping a "Check, Please!" episode at Blue 13, has been out of the public eye since exiting the Fifty/50 Group in January. He, with help from chef de cuisine Patrick Russ (The Dawson) will run a kitchen that will turn out very high volume (capacity is nearly 500!) of updated classic American dishes at dinner and eventually lunch and brunch services. Chicago Mag reports that he will give a Southern twist to the shrimp cocktail staple that The Boarding House owner mentioned in July.
As previously reported, Singh and team will procure an all-American wine list to pair with Curren's food. Expect the opening before the end of the year across from the Art Institute at 130 S. Michigan.
