North Pond's Greg Mosko has been announced as one of Food & Wine's best new pastry chefs of 2014. Mosko, according to the Tribune, first heard about the award in February of this year.

Before joining Bruce Sherman's restaurant full time, the western suburbs native went to school at both Kendall College and the French Pastry School. He spent time working for iconic chef Thomas Keller at both Bouchon Bakery and The French Laundry until making his way back home to Chicago.

All of the nominees qualify as "new" in Food & Wine rules as they have run the pastry departments at their respective restaurants for five years or less. Mosko and the other winners will appear in the December issue of Food & Wine, which comes out on November 14.
