MAG MILE—Howells & Hood ownership has promoted former executive sous Brett Neubauer to executive chef following former chef Scott Walton's move to Pittsburgh. Neubauer has launched a new menu at the beer haven at the base of the Tribune Tower, which includes the rare mashup of pierogi poutine. [EaterWire]

LOOP—The latest event from Pilot Light, the charity group from a few prominent local chefs that benefits healthy eating in Chicago schools, comes to the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington) on Dec. 5. More than 15 chefs, including Paul Kahan, Matthias Merges, Jason Hammel and Giuseppe Tentori will take part. It's expensive ($125 general admission) but benefits a good local cause; tickets are available here. [EaterWire]

WEST TOWN—West Town Bakery rolled out a line of chocolate bars today that incorporates Dark Matter coffee. They're only available online but they may become available at their prospective brick-and-mortar locations. [Tribune]
