The encased meat community has taken another hit, thanks to the closing of Jim's Original on 95th Street.
CTA expansion forced the shutter, reports DNAinfo. The 24-hour fast-food stand on the South Side in Roseland served up Maxwell Street Polishes, pork chop sandwiches and other Chicago treats. This ends a 14-year run for the walk-in window which served free french fries with each sandwich.
Monday morning the crowds were thin, a manager said, as Jim's closed at 8 a.m. The public was well-informed of the closure, and Jim's is more of a late-night stop anyway.
Jim's original stand at 1250 S. Union Ave. will continue to operate, and many of the 16 employees will find work there, according to DNAinfo.
