With a menu featuring nostalgia favorites (buffalo wings, double napkin burger, chicken pot pie), Summerdale will open its doors in the former Marigold space tomorrow evening at 5:30 p.m. From Marty Fosse (Anteprima, Ombra, Azzurra, Acre) and partners Jim Dragatsis and Sandeep Malhotra, Summerdale is looking to provide some stability to a space that has had a rocky recent past.

Before asking Fosse to lend a hand in reconcepting, the space held Dragatsis and Malhotra's Marigold relocation which was followed up by Bull Horns Taco Bar, a collaboration with an outside group that the pair pulled the plug on less than five months in.

Fosse's restaurant experience, particularly in Andersonville (of his four restaurants, only Azzurra is not located there), should come in handy to help make Summerdale into a success. He, along with the executive chefs at Azzurra (Katie Kelly), Acre (Mike Lathrop) and Anteprima (Pedro Aguillar), developed the menu (which you can view in full below) that leans heavily on classic family restaurant fare.

The menu is broken up into groups that would be instantly recognizable to anyone walking off the street: appetizers (IPA cheese spread, spinach dip), salads & soups (wedge duo, chili con carne), sandwiches (charred thick cut beef bologna, crispy buttermilk chicken), bigger plates (hand breaded fish & chips, sloooow cooked pork shoulder), sides (lime jalapeno slaw, creamy parmesan mashed potatoes) and desserts (ice cream sandwiches, root beer float).

Bar managers Meredith Barry and Jasmine Rumsey have created a drink menu featuring cocktails broken down as "old school" (Moscow Mule, Harvey Wallbanger), "new school" (Paloma featuring mescal, tequila blanco, grapefruit, sugar, soda), and "summer school" (Summerdale Flip featuring house-infused tequila, cardamom-rose water syrup, house sour, egg whites, cinnamon).

Summerdale will be open Monday through Thursday from 5:30 until 10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5:30 until 11:00 p.m., and Sunday from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m.. Expect lunch service on Saturday and Sunday to begin later in the year.
