Right on schedule, the fourth Kanela Breakfast Club opened for business this morning in the former The Savoy space on 1408 N. Milwaukee, bringing a scratch-made American breakfast, lunch and brunch option to Wicker Park. Ownership quickly turned around the former seafood and absinthe restaurant by adding chandeliers and brown leather banquettes to the 90-seat space. A 12-seat espresso bar and a 25-seat private dining area lives in the rear, while a 16-seat patio will open next year.
Opening from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. daily, ownership is looking to capitalize on the morning commuter crowd by offering to-go breakfast sandwiches alongside their staple sweet and savory menu items, fresh juices, coffee drinks, and more. Look for sausage ground in-house, bread baked in-house in the future, and this Kanela is also BYOB and includes a $5 BYO Bloody Mary bar on Saturdays and Sundays.
With this location now open, look for another Kanela to open in Streeterville in December.
