River North will get an infusion of fried chicken and a chef-driven casual breakfast option in four days. That's when Leghorn Cafe, the expansion of Element Collective's (Old Town Social, Nellcote, Kinmont) hit "anti-Chick-fil-A" in Ukrainian Village, opens its doors in the Ohio House Motel.
The new location will be slightly different than the original, offering breakfast items for the downtown set inside a space that's a little more polished than the original. It will open at either 7 or 8 a.m. everyday, and while the hours will be temporarily limited during opening week (closing at 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday), it will stay open until midnight on Thursdays through Saturdays and either 9 or 7 p.m. the rest of the time once regular hours begin the week after next.
The menu, which you can read in full below, includes similar items to the original at lunch and dinner but will offer breakfast service for the first time. Look for biscuit sandwiches, Stumptown Coffee, a breakfast platter, doughnuts and more.
Aside from the food, the original Leghorn's atmosphere and ideology drew press upon opening in March for offering free condoms, streaming raucous hip-hop, and championing gay rights. It also sold out of chicken within 90 minutes on opening day.
