Customers won't find Gino's East famed sausage patty topping at the chain's first Kosher location in Wicker Park.

Gino's East Vegetarian would serve Kosher food and operate in conjunction with a local Jewish group, as reported by DNAinfo. Construction crews continue to work at the vacant plot of land at 1630 N. Milwaukee Ave., just west of the triangle intersection of Damen, North and Milwaukee avenues.

The new pizzeria reportedly is coming to the first floor of a yet-to-be-constructed building which would house the offices of the Bucktown Wicker Park Chabad Jewish Center. Keeping Kosher means separating dairy from meats, so cheese pizza needs to be kept meatless. It wouldn't be the city's first Kosher pizzeria: Tel-Aviv Kosher Pizza (6349 N. California Ave.) serves veggie and cheeseless pizza in Rogers Park and Kosher pizza is also served at Chalavi, 2931 W. Touhy Ave.

Gino's would join a crowded neighborhood pizza scene that includes Lou Malnati's, Dimo's Pizza, Santullo's Eatery and Piece. The Kosher locale is another step toward diversification for Gino's, which has plans for a brewery at its River North location and is building restaurants in Mexico.

UPDATE: A Gino's East rep says that "at this time they are in discussions but nothing has been solidified, therefore the DNA Info article isn't accurate." Stay tuned.
