On a day that news broke of L20's impending closing, another well-known restaurant in the area is already shuttered. 2 Sparrowstwo Trotter vets' all-day restaurant on Diversey, closed for good earlier in the week. A sign is now on the door thanking customers for their business and ownership confirmed the news on the phone and in a statement.

2 Sparrows opened in fall 2011 as a rare chef-driven concept that focused on breakfast, lunch and brunch. Owner/chef Greg Ellis garnered praise for his inventive varieties of house-made pop tarts and other sweet and savory dishes, and the restaurant recently closed briefly for a remodel and added dinner service.

The statement says Ellis will be pursuing other projects but one of them isn't Oyster Pail, the delayed oyster-themed restaurant and brewery up the street that he was slated to be the consulting chef for. Stay tuned for more on what he does next and what's coming next to the space.
