Reported yesterday by Eater Atlanta, former Piccolo Sogno Due, The Florentine and Cibo Matto chef Todd Stein is heading back to Chicago. But in his new job, announced today, the man that most local diners know for cooking inventive Italian cuisine will be undertaking gastropubby and tavern food as the new corporate chef for 4 Star Restaurant Group (Smoke Daddy, Crosby's Kitchen, D.O.C. Wine Bar), Crain's reports.
Stein, who left two years ago to move south, will be designing the food for two forthcoming 4 Star projects—Remington's on Michigan Avenue and The Windsor in Streeterville.
"Chicago is my home and where my family is," Stein says. "The current restaurants at 4 Star Group will remain as they are and we will continue to cook good food which I will oversee. Our new places are going to be great."
Stein will head back to Chicago in the first week of December to begin menu development.
