T-minus eight days until Chicago finally gets a Shake Shack. Danny Meyer's worldwide burger, shake and hot dog empire announced the opening date for the first Chicago shack—Tuesday, November 4, 11 a.m. The Tribune first reported this opening date.
This River North location (66 E. Ohio St.) will have a few local wrinkles in hopes of making it unique to Chicago. Some frozen custards will employ ingredients from Bang Bang Pie Shop, Glazed and Infused, and Vosges, while the hot dogs will be made from Vienna Beef. The location will also serve beer from local breweries as well as wine.
Reports on the first location, the former Harley Davidson store at Ohio and Rush, date back nearly two years. Meyer's team confirmed a Chicago expansion in May 2013. Take a look around the nearly-finished space here, which will include a casually sleek interior and an outdoor patio.
