Dive Bar Power Hour: L & L Tavern

Cheap drinks and a large selection of Irish whiskeys make this a Lakeview staple.

If you've ever wanted to drink in the former watering hole of serial killers, you're in luck. L & L earned its reputation for being the spot where John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer used to visit. These days, the clientele is decidedly less murderous and consists of locals and stragglers coming from Cubs games. The no-frills, prohibition-era bar offers an impressive selection of Irish whiskeys and cheap beers including $2.50 PBRs. There are no drafts on tap but ladies will appreciate the free tampons available in the bathroom. It's been called one of the best dives in the country by Stuff magazine and there's a good chance that if you're out in Lakeview, the night's going to end here.
