Dive Bar Power Hour: Old Town Ale House

Old Town's best dive keeps patrons entertained with its eclectic decor and style.

The self-proclaimed "Le Premiere Dive Bar," Old Town Ale House has been a fixture in the neighborhood since 1958. The saloon might best be known for the artwork hanging on its walls, featuring everything from nude politicians (Sarah Palin and Rod Blagojevich) to bar regulars present and past. Jazz junkies will get a kick out of the jukebox, which plays jazz almost exclusively and there's even a lending library on-site for those who want to do little reading over drinks. Stop in after dinner or a show across the street at Second City and it'll be early morning (4/5 a.m.) before you know it.
