There are many reasons to head to Sportsman's Club for a drink. Highly-skilled staff reinventing classic cocktailing. A who's who industry clientele. The hip throwback tavern vibe with checkers and chess sets built into tables. And an amaro machine.
For Eater's third annual cocktail week, co-beverage directors Wade McElroy and Jeff Donahue are using that amaro machine to create a special blend that's available this week only. Containing Averna, Rabarbaro Zucca, Cynar, Amaro Montenegro, and Cocchi Rosa, McElroy describes this unique mix of Italian liqueur as a "custom blend that balances perfectly on center of bitter and sweet."
The Eater amaro blend is available as a shot ($4), a neat pour ($6) and as a cocktail, dubbed the "Amarocano," which is served in a highball glass with angostura bitters, lemon and soda for just $8. Try it out before it's just a bittersweet memory.
