The crowded River North scene will soon get a new player when Trophy Room debuts later this month in the former District Bar space at 170 W. Ontario St., Crain's reports.
Patrons have waited more than two years for a replacement for District Bar, which shuttered in February 2012, as District's owners cited a sluggish economy and stiff competition. While some customers criticized District for having an identity crisis, not sure if it was at sports bar and night club, management at Trophy Room has made no mistake that this is a sports bar—complete with 35 televisions carrying all the major sports television packages.
They'll offer 17 stone-fired pizzas along with a selection of more than 25 craft beers as the crux of the consumables. They're dubbing Trophy Room as "a place to watch football + futbol" alike, according to the restaurant's Facebook page, although management couldn't be reached for comment.
Trophy Room represents SocialLight Group's second establishment, as they also run Estate Ultra Bar along the Chicago River at Elston and Division. The group took over that space in 2011, and what became Estate was a concept originally planned for Ontourage at 157 W. Ontario.
Although a radically-different concept from Estate, SocialLight will finally have its River North presence within a couple weeks.
