As one establishment prepares to open tomorrow on that Logan Square block, details are trickling out for another: the highly-anticipated new project from the Scofflaw guys. New neon signage has appeared on the windows proclaiming the name—Slippery Slope. And in many ways, the project sounds like the opposite of Scofflaw—rowdier, louder, simpler, and larger.
Using the bar from the Patrick Swayze classic Roadhouse as inspiration, the two-floor space (the second floor will open later) will house a rowdy Bonny's-esque dance floor and DJ booth, plus vintage skee ball. While reps promise "cheap beer and cheep hooch," with Danny Shapiro involved it's only fair to expect well-made cocktails, a few will be bottled. Food options will focus on "mother-in-laws" (tamale with chili).
Originally slated to open by late fall, expect Slippery Slope to make some noise by early spring.
