Guess what, Logan Square? DNAinfo reports that you have another new bar coming to the 2300 block of Milwaukee Avenue. And this one is the latest maneuver between the dueling arcade bars of Chicago.
On the heels of arch-rival Headquarters Beercade's River North expansion, Emporium Arcade Bar has a second location in the works, smack dab in the middle of that exploding Logan Square block. Emporium and Headquarters announced expansions of their original locations two days apart. Both arcade bars seem to be sticking to their sides, as Headquarters is building near the lake (Lakeview and River North) while Emporium is working the Wicker Park/Logan Square corridor.
An interesting part of this development is that The Radler, the first concept to open on the block, would still be the only full restaurant there. Emporium will join the Scofflaw guys, Chicago Distilling Company, something named Sector 2337, and Mindy Segal's bakery. Emporium Logan Square will be large (8,500 square-feet), will be "similar" to the original, and hopefully open in the spring.
[UPDATE: In an email, Emporium ownership reveals details on the new location. The concept will primarily be a "table game arcade": featuring "pool tables, foosball tables, air hockey tables, pinball machines, Ice Chexx (bubble hockey), shuffle puck bowlers and of course arcade video games." These larger games created need for the larger location, and ownership feels the table games will fill an underserved market. They say that "both locations will be unique."]
