Central Standard Closes, New Ownership on the Way

The tour is over. Central Standard, Roger Greenfield's "culinary tour through the central time zone," has reached the end of the line. Greenfield (Bar Louie, Park Tavern, Chica Loca) opened the large (10,000 square-feet) and expensive central-themed restaurant and bar in March. He declined to specify why it closed, only saying that he sold it to Four Corners Tavern Group.

Ryan Indovina, director of Four Corners Tavern Group (Gaslight, Schoolyard, Benchmark), confirms the deal but says the scheduled closing is on Tuesday. If all goes according to plan, he says they hope to open a new concept in the summer.

"We're really excited to be in the neighborhood and the space is fantastic," Indovina says, describing it as "a neighborhood place that will develop our following."

With so many concepts in Lakeview and Lincoln Park, a new Four Corners location should fit right into that area of River North, which continues to cement its reputation as "Wrigleyville South." The hospitality group is in full-on growth-mode, recently opening Trellis and taking over Ranalli's pizza, which Indovina says should open in about a month.
