Dean Zanella Lands at Chicago Firehouse; Another Vanille Patisserie Opens; More

SOUTH LOOP—Former Rhapsody chef Dean Zanella has latched on at a new restaurant—Chicago Firehouse. Zanella's New Year's Eve menu included a filet flight, lobster bisque in puff pastry, and chateaubriand for two. LINCOLN PARK—The third Vanille Patisserie location is now open at 2108 N. Clark St. Pastry chef and [former] French Pastry School instructor Josh Johnson helms the 1200 square-foot location, which seats 22 and features an espresso bar. [EaterWire]

LOOP—Speaking of pastry, Ryan Westover, a 2013 Food & Wine Best New Pastry Chef nominee from D.C., will be preparing three desserts at Atwood Cafe on Monday.
