Forthcoming Oyster Pail Plans to Brew Oyster Beer

When news of the forthcoming Oyster Pail first broke, the beverage focus was originally going to be on craft cocktails. Now there will also be a brewpub element, focusing on oyster beer brewed in-house, as well as a new chef consultant.

Although he originally thought about a brewpub, co-owner Phil Tadros switched gears a couple times and has recruited brewmaster Eric McNeal from his forthcoming brewery Strange Pelican to brew beer in-house from oysters and oyster shells in a two-barrel system. Maryland's Flying Dog Brewery and Ireland's Porterhouse Brewing Co. are two known breweries that brew beer with oysters. Former Fat Rice bar manager Jason Brown is still on board for cocktails.

2 Sparrows chef Gregory Ellis is consulting on the project and will create a menu revolving around oysters, of course. The opening timeframe has been pushed back to March or April.
