Balena's Star-Studded James Beard Dinner; Hamburger Mary's Coming to Oak Park; More

LINCOLN PARK—Chris Pandel and company continues to draw big culinary names into Balena and The Bristol. The latest is a James Beard chef dinner on Feb. 6 at Balena, featuring courses by Jonathan Waxman (Barbuto in NYC), Andrew Carmellini (Lafayette in NYC), Gerard Craft (Niche in St. Louis), and Chris Cosentino (Incanto in San Francisco). OAK PARK—Local Hamburger Mary's ownership is planning a restaurant and brewery at 1111-1113 South Boulevard in Oak Park, the Sun-Times Oak Park blog reports. It will seat from 150-200 people and village officials hope it opens sometime this year. [Oak Leaves]

BEDFORD PARK—5 Rabbit Brewery is involved in another legal battle. Five original investors are suing the beer maker, accusing a "to artificially depress 5 Rabbit's share value." One co-founder left after another sued him about a year ago. How this suit will affect the brewery is unknown at this time. [Tribune]
