The lid is off on Mike Sheerin's next project, and the no-longer free-agent chef is going Italian. It turns out that those interior construction photos Sheerin teased on Twitter less than a month ago are actually shots of Cicchetti, the new project from 45-year industry veteran Dan Rosenthal.
Dish reports that Sheerin will be cooking a menu filled with Italian small plates like pork belly–polenta buns with cabbage and agrodolce, and sardines with gremolata, fennel, and rolled bread. Sheerin, who last partnered with his brother Pat to open and co-own Trenchermen, will be joining a growing trend of recently-opened or soon-to-open Italian concepts that includes Eataly, Nico, Siena Tavern, Sofi Ristorante and Centro Ristorante. Cichetti, which will share a 9,200 square-foot space with a new Sopraffina location, is expected to open in November.
