Baconfest is getting bigger next year. Much, much bigger. The dates are set for the 2014 installment of Chicago's quintessential heart-stopping festival at UIC Forum: April 25 and 26; they've added a Friday night dinner session before the usual Saturday lunch and dinner.
But the schedule features much more than those two days—there's a full week of preview events—appropriately titled Bacon Week. Those events include "Baconfest Cocktail Kickoff Party featuring master Bacon Mixologists," a "Bacon Cocktail Tour," a "Baconfest Past Masters Kickoff Dinner," and "Neighborhood Bacon Crawls."
Also on the docket is a dine around program where they'll "invite Baconfest restaurants to put a special bacon-dish on their menus for the month of April and to donate a portion of sales to the Greater Chicago Food Depository."
Like past years, they're releasing a limited amount of VIP tickets in December in case your loved ones are bacon fanatics. General admission tickets will go on sale in February. Expect the restaurant list to be released sometime before the holidays.
"Last year, we sold out two shifts in 45 minutes, so we'll do our best to give the people what they want," Head Baconfest Dude Seth Zurer says. "And what they want is more Baconfest. Which we are happy to give them."
