Former Sable bartender Alex Renshaw's new gig is a big one: Taking over the Drumbar beverage program from Craig Schoettler. Like Schoettler was, Renshaw will also become the beverage director at all the Menin Hotel properties, but they will include an upcoming second Drumbar in Atlanta in addition to the four concepts in Miami. This move continues quite a run for Renshaw, who was named one of the "Top 10 Bartenders to Watch" at last month's Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans.
Renshaw, who announced his exit from Sable last month, will focus on classic cocktails, a departure from Schoettler's progressive style. For now, Drumbar will still offer its summer menu but look for Renshaw's additions in the fall.
Drumbar opened in June 2012 behind Benjamin Newby. Schoettler, who took over in December after his exodus from The Aviary, announced his move to Vegas last month. Renshaw will continue Drumbar's run of celebrated barmen, undoubtedly with his own spin like the first two.
