Another new concept is coming to Wicker Park, this one from a couple of local restaurant veterans. Ron DiNella (Morton's Steakhouse, Go Roma) and longtime friend Marty Fosse (Anteprima, Acre, Ombra) have taken over the former Gunner's space on Milwaukee Avenue. Gunner's, the bar owned by former Matchbox and Silver Palm bartenders Eric and Dean Palm, closed in December.
Fosse and DiNella will be bringing another Italian restaurant to the neighborhood, naming it Azzurra EnoTavola. Other Italian options currently in the high-traffic area include Francesca's Forno, Via Carducci, Enoteca Roma, and Tocco.
The two owners are keeping conceptual details close to the vest for the time being. The 2000 square-foot space holds 80 seats. DiNella and Fosse are planning to open the spot in October, look out for more information before then.
