RIVER NORTH—Brendan Sodikoff is 86'ing "Delicatessen" from the name of his latest hot spot Dillman's. The restaurateur said that customers were having difficulty understanding the concept. Some fifty people expressed their anger over the fact that there wasn't a deli case selling cold cuts. "I never imagined I would offend anyone by using the word delicatessen to describe the spirit of this restaurant. People take their delis seriously," Sodikoff said. The word that caused all of the uproar has already been removed from the restaurant's sign. [Crain's]
LOGAN SQUARE—Parson's Chicken & Fish will now be open daily at 11 a.m. The hot and happening frying shack's new hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Friday, and 11 a.m. through 3 a.m. Saturdays (food is available until 1 a.m. daily). [EaterWire]
SOUTH LOOP—New things are happening at Acadia. First, the Michelin-starred restaurant's bar offers a three-course dessert tasting menu for $35 from pastry chef Thomas Raquel. Second, starting September 10 they will now be open for dinner service on Tuesdays. Last, the restaurant will be closed on August 26 for a team visit to Chef's Garden. [EaterWire]
NEAR WEST SIDE—Counter Culture Coffee has been hosting panel discussions for a while now, but what you may not know is that they've been sneaking in some food lately as well. Louisa Farhat, the head baker at Swim Café, constructs food pairings ("bites") that compliment one or more of the coffees at the brewing workshops. Visit them every Friday at 10 a.m. when they hold free public cuppings at their training center, followed at 11 a.m. with a hands-on coffee brewing workshop at 177 N. Ada St. In other news, Farhat is also heading up the pastry program at Hop Leaf. [EaterWire]
