Element Collective (Nellcôte, Old Town Social, RM Champagne Salon) have taken over the former Zealous Restaurant space (419 West Superior Street) in River North. The group (partners Chris Dexter, Chris Freeman, Jared Van Camp and John Warken), have plans to open the unnamed dining concept in early winter 2013. Van Camp is a partner in the project but will not be running the kitchen. The concept's name, menu and executive chef are unknown at this time.
The 6,200 square foot space may not be in an area as bustling as the restaurant rows of West Randolph or Hubbard Streets, but Element is betting on that changing. The area is currently home to many interior, art, and fashion designers.
There is still no word on when Leghorn, the group's chicken shop, will find a home. In addition, Element, which already has Quality Social in San Diego, have also announced plans to expand into the Boston and Los Angeles markets in the years ahead. Stay tuned for more information as it hits the wires.
