Hotel lounge guru Matthew McCahill will join the team at The Godfrey Hotel Chicago, set to open in early 2014 in River North. The upscale hotel will feature the I|O Urban Roofscape, a stylish venue on the hotel's fourth floor. Aptly named for its flexible indoor-outdoor layout, I|O will serve as a private event space as well as a restaurant and bar open to the public.
Tasked with curating the food and beverage program for I|O, McCahill brings a wealth of experience from his work at Dana Hotel & Spa's Vertigo Sky Lounge and Sax Hotel's Crimson Lounge.
"I am bringing a fine dining background with my nightclub experience of the last 12 years to create an amazing venue," said McCahill, who showcased his originality with the launch of the Bartender's Table at Vertigo earlier this year. "I'm making it my goal to get hotel food and beverage venues to be the hot spots in this city like Vegas, Miami, New York and Los Angeles have already done."
McCahill plans to serve traditional drinks with a twist along with a food menu of Chicago favorites.
