Domestic Falls Through, Peter Balodimas Now at Shaw's

Peter Balodimas had big plans for a farm-friendly restaurant in River North. But after what Crain's terms "different ideas about domestic" between Balodimas and Rosebud, the two have parted ways. Domestic is now over, Rosebud is working on a different concept there, and Balodimas is now working with Lettuce Entertain You.

The new spot at 445 N. Dearborn is still under wraps. As recently as March it was Rosebud Trattoria, and it will once again be some sort of Rosebud concept. Stay tuned for details in the coming months.

Balodimas, on the other hand, is now working with Lettuce's two Shaw's Crab House restaurants. Reached by phone, Balodimas declines to discuss what happened with Domestic, only saying "it is what it is." He says he made the change two weeks ago and that opening his own restaurant will stay on the back burner for now. Although he's currently training, he expects to be in the Shaw's kitchens in a few weeks.
