Fox & Obel Shut Down

New, 6 comments

Fox-Obel.jpgAlthough it avoided eviction in 2011, Fox & Obel was shut down yesterday by someone besides its landlord—the Health Department. First reported by Crain's, the Streeterville gourmet market, bistro and cafe closed yesterday because of health code violations. DNAinfo reports that investigators found "more than 200 live fruit flies on the walls, ceiling and equipment" and "about 30 live cockroaches near cooking equipment." There's no definitive word when Fox & Obel, which has the reputation as the most expensive grocery in town, will reopen. [Crain's/DNAinfo]
