Table, Donkey & Stick To Offer Diner-esque Industry Menu

Table, Donkey and Stick's Scott Manley is getting into the Greasy Spoon game with a weekly industry night menu beginning Monday, July 29, though it wasn't intentional.

"We wanted to do something that would appeal to industry people. Often that includes cheap beers and food that doesn't require too much thought. Most nights off I don't want to think much about the food, I just want something simple and good set in front of me," Manley says.

On the menu will be a McDonald's-style cheeseburger, latke poutine and a to-be-determined third dish, "perhaps something vegetarian." Manley already serves latkes and a burger on the restaurant's menu, but for the industry night he plans on changing up their presentation.

"The burger is gonna be a single patty with a slice of Butterkäse cheese and a couple slices of kosher dill pickles. I think we'll wrap it in butcher paper too, or it just wouldn't seem right."

The latkes on the menu "look a bit like flat square (tater) tots" and "hold their crispness well", perfect for Manley's poutine (fried latkes, warm cheese curds and gravy). "I'm not trying to complicate anything with this," he says. Prices will be between $5 and $7, "with fifty cent PBRs to go with the food."

As for what his favorite diner staples are, Manley prefers the simplicity of a grilled cheese sandwich, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese and chocolate milk. Sometimes the simple pleasures are the most rewarding.
